LUMAJANG - The Lumajang Regency Government has set the status of emergency response for drought or clean water crisis and forest and land fires (karhutla). Following the determination, the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Lumajang Regency began distributing clean water assistance to drought-affected areas.
The emergency response status was determined through the Decree of the Regent of Lumajang Number 100.3.3.2/282/KEP/427.12/2026 as an effort to accelerate the handling of the impact of the dry season which has begun to be felt in a number of regions.
The Head of the Lumajang Regency BPBD, Isnugroho, said that the distribution of clean water was carried out gradually based on the results of the assessment in the field. Assistance is prioritized for villages that have difficulty obtaining clean water.
"Clean water is a basic need of the community. Therefore, we ensure that every incoming report is immediately followed up through assessment so that assistance can be distributed quickly and accurately," said Isnugroho in his statement, Tuesday, July 14.
The distribution of the first distribution was carried out on Friday (10/7/2026) in Jenggrong Village, Ranuyoso District. BPBD deployed three tanker trucks to distribute clean water to 15 locations spread across Tanah Gatal, Gemuling, Lumpang, Krajan, and Baka Utara.
In the initial phase, clean water assistance has reached 124 families (KK) or about 425 people who have begun to be affected by the reduced water supply during the dry season. Isnugroho explained, based on the results of the BPBD mapping, the potential for drought in 2026 is estimated to occur in six sub-districts which include 19 villages.
