Jokowi Asks KIB To Immediately Announce Presidential Candidates, PAN: Next Year, Just Relax

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has asked the United Indonesia Coalition (KIB) consisting of the Golkar Party, PAN, and PPP to immediately determine the presidential and vice presidential candidates (candidates) for 2024.

"Next year (the announcement of the presidential candidate, ed). It's also still taking a long time (registration). Just relax," said PAN Deputy Chairperson Viva Yoga Mauladi, Monday, October 24.

According to Yoga, registration for presidential and vice-presidential candidates will only open in August 2023. PAN, he said, like Golkar and PPP do not want to rush to announce the names that will compete in the 2024 presidential election.

"It will be decided next year. Registration for candidate pairs is still long, August 2023," he said.

Moreover, Yoga said that KIB is still looking for a number of criteria for the right candidate to be carried in the 2024 presidential election.

"Such as having good personal integrity, good capacity, strong leadership vision, love for the people and the Republic of Indonesia, being willing to sacrifice for the interests of the nation and state," said Yoga.

Previously, President Jokowi advised KIB not to linger in deciding which presidential and vice presidential candidates will be promoted to the presidential election.

Jokowi requested that the three political parties who are members of the KIB immediately determine the figures. Because so far the three of them have often met.

"I'm leaving a message, don't take too long. I've heard it and I see that every day Mr. Airlangga Hartarto continues to hug Mr. Mardiono from PPP and Mr. Zulkifli Hasan from PAN. Don't just hug each other," said Jokowi at the anniversary 58th Golkar Party, Friday, October 21.

"But I believe it will soon be decided. We'll just have to wait," he continued.
