JAKARTA - The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) brought a breakthrough in Merdeka Learning at the G20 Education Working Group (EdWG) meeting.
"The Ministry of Education and Technology will bring breakthroughs for transformative Freedom of Learning, Indonesia is seen as a good example of a country that has succeeded in carrying out a quality comprehensive education transformation despite the COVID-19 pandemic," said Director General of Teachers and Education Personnel of the Ministry of Education and Culture Iwan Syahril in a media briefing monitored at Jakarta, Tuesday 15 March.
Indonesia will lead the G20 member countries to work together to discuss the same efforts through four priority agendas. A total of four priority agendas were raised, namely quality universal education, digital technology for education, solidarity and partnerships, and the future of the post-COVID-19 world of work.
He added that gotong royong was the main spirit of the Indonesian G20 Presidency. The entity and the noble values of Indonesian culture are also reflected in the big theme that was raised, namely "Recover Together, Recover Stronger".
“The COVID-19 pandemic has pushed for change and innovation in various sectors of life, including the education system. Not only in Indonesia, but throughout the world," said Iwan who is also the Chair of the G20 Education Working Group.
To solve problems and produce appropriate and innovative solutions in the fields of education and culture on a global scale, he said, joint work must be carried out.
As a form of manifestation, he said, in the G20 Presidency, Indonesia invites the world to work hand in hand, support each other, to recover together, grow stronger and sustainable in terms of education and culture.
“The key message is gotong royong, cooperation. Therefore, through the G20 Education Working Group, Indonesia invites G20 member countries to work together to discuss efforts to present a quality education system, with four priority agendas that we have raised," he said as quoted by Antara.
