JAKARTA - The Minister of Environment and Forestry (LHK), Siti Nurbaya, said that the construction of the Mentawir Nursery near the capital city of Nusanantara (IKN) will support land rehabilitation efforts that initiated the construction of IKN, by President Joko Widodo's direction.
"The President asked that of the 256 thousand hectares of the entire IKN authority area, 70 percent is natural cover and trees, now there is only 42 percent, so another 28 percent must be added to make everything green", said Minister Siti in a statement received by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Jakarta, Tuesday 15 March.
This was conveyed by Minister of Environment and Forestry Siti while accompanying President Joko Widodo to review the Mentawir Nursery in North Penajam Paser Regency, East Kalimantan, on Monday, March 14.
Siti explained that it is estimated that 70 percent or covering an area of about 80 thousand hectares will be completed in 2-3 years and the results will be visible in 4-5 years.
"So the IKN concept as a green city will really be seen", she said.
