South Kalimantan Police Dismantle Yamalube's Fake Oil Circulation

BANJARMASIN - The Sub-Directorate Team of Industry, Trade and Investment (Indagsi) of the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate of the South Kalimantan Police succeeded in dismantling the circulation of counterfeit oil with well-known brands.

"We confiscated tens of thousands of oil bottles that faked the Yamalube brand from Yamaha and the AHM MPX1 n MPX2 from Honda", explained Head of Sub-Directorate 1 Indagsi of the South Kalimantan Police, AKBP Ridwan Raja Dewa, in Banjarmasin, quoted by Antara, Friday, December 10.

The case was revealed to have started from a public report and the police conducted an investigation which suspected that a fake two-wheeled motor vehicle lubricant was circulating in one of the shops.

Then on Wednesday, December 8, officers came to Toko Berkat Motor, which is located at Kelayan A Street, Banjarmasin City. As a result, 6,288 bottles of Yamalube brand oil were found in the storage warehouse and 3,840 bottles of AHM brand oil were found.

As a result of the officer's interrogation of the shop owner with the initials IP (46), the oil he sells is obtained from Cilongok Jaya, which has its address at Pasar Kemis Street, Sukamantri Village, Tangerang Regency, Banten.

The police moved quickly to Banten to visit the shop in question and found another 18,708 bottles of fake oil of the same brand being marketed in Banjarmasin.

"We are still developing the case because the marketing distribution of fake oil has crossed provinces", said Ridwan representing the Director of Criminal Investigation at the South Kalimantan Police, Kombes Suhasto.

There are also suspects in this case charged with Article 100 and Article 102 of Law No. 20 of 2016 concerning Marks and Geographical Indications.

In Article 100 of Law 20/2016, the maximum penalty is 5 years and or a maximum fine of IDR 2 billion. Meanwhile, Article 102 is subject to a maximum imprisonment of 1 year or a maximum fine of IDR 200 million.
