Invite People Not To Golput, Once: Everyone Must Participate In Choosing

JAKARTA - Indonesian musician Once Mekel invites all levels of society to exercise their voting rights in determining Indonesian leaders for the next five years in the 2024 general election (election).

"In my opinion, everyone must participate in choosing because everyone has the same rights and when we unite to choose the right leader we will get the right leader too later," Once Mekel told Antara, Tuesday night.

According to him, people who do not exercise their voting rights in the election will not produce anything. And Once's fear is that these voices will be used by irresponsible individuals in achieving victory.

In choosing Indonesia's future leader, according to him, the General Election Commission (KPU) has provided various facilities for the community to be able to make their choice. Starting from the debate between the Presidential Candidate and the Presidential Candidate that has taken place.

The contestation of the debate can be used as a reference by the public in determining the president's choice and also his deputy for the next five years.

"Use logic and insight that is sufficient in choosing, not just feelings and most importantly, when choosing not to just join individuals who have their own goals or personal interests such as their careers and so on," said Once, who is also a Legislative Candidate (caleg) of the DPR RI DKI Jakarta electoral district from PDI Perjuangan.

In addition, maturity in choosing a presidential candidate is needed, so that people are not only the origin and emotion for a moment in determining the votes in their booths for a decision of the next five years.

The 2024 election includes the presidential and vice presidential elections, members of the DPR RI, members of the DPD RI, members of the provincial DPRD, and members of the district/city DPRD with a national voter list (DPT) of 204,807,222 voters.

The 2024 election was attended by 18 national political parties, namely (according to the serial number) of the National Awakening Party (PKB), Gerindra Party, PDI Perjuangan, Golkar Party, NasDem Party, Labor Party, and the Indonesian Gelora Party.

Next, Partai Keadilan Sejahtera (PKS), Partai Kebangkitan Nusantara (PKN), Partai Hanura, Partai Garuda, Partai Amanat Nasional (PAN), Partai Bulan Bintang (PBB), Partai Demokrat, Partai Solidaritas Indonesia (PSI), Partai Perindo, Partai Persatuan Pembangunan (PPP), and Partai Ummat.

In addition, there are six local political parties as participants, namely the Aceh Nanggroe Party, the Atjeh Beusaboh Tha'at and Taqwa Generation Party, the Aceh Darul Party, the Aceh Aceh Party, the Aceh Prosperous Justice Party, and the Acehnese People's Independent Solidity Party.

Meanwhile, the presidential and vice presidential elections were followed by three pairs, namely Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar as number 1, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka number 2, and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md. serial number 3.
