Safe Tips For Driving In The Rainy Season For Motorcyclists

JAKARTA - Based on data from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the rainy season generally occurs in various regions in Indonesia. The start of the rainy season is the right time for motorcyclists to make special preparations to stay safe and comfortable on the road.

So what should be prepared?

"Safety gear must be equipped with a helmet, either a full face or a half, but make sure to use a clear visor (lace helmet), don't be dark because if it's dark the view can be disturbed," said Muhamad Arief, Yamaha Riding Academy instructor PT Yamaha Indonesia Motor Manufacturing (YIMM), when contacted by VOI.ID, Monday, November 27.

Here are some interesting tips he suggested to help motorists face the rainy season better.

Make sure the helmet used has a clear visor (mird glass). This is important to keep the driver's view from being disturbed, especially during heavy rain. Helmets can be in the form of a full face or half face, but a clear visor is the main key.

Use a raincoat upstream suit, and avoid using a ponco raincoat or straight without pants, especially for a duck or sport motor. This type of raincoat can enter the motorcycle chain and cover the rear light, which can interfere with other motorists.

Always use gloves when driving in the rainy season. Gloves not only protect hands from cold and water, but also ensure a good grip on the gas lever and brakes, so that drivers still have optimal control.

Make sure to wear the appropriate shoes, and avoid the use of sandals. The use of sandals can increase the risk of slips, especially on wet roads. Closed shoes provide better protection and reduce the risk of injury.

"Also make sure to use shoes and it is not recommended to use sandals because there are more risks (wearing sandals), it is feared that the condition of the road will be wet and then fall and the potential for injuries will be higher," he concluded.

Well, by applying these tips, it is hoped that motorcyclists can face the rainy season more prepared and safe. Always prioritize safety and comfort while driving, especially in unfriendly weather conditions.
