JAKARTA - Indonesia should be proud. In the midst of celebrating the 76th Independence Day, there is good news from the world of cinema.

Seperti Dendam, Rindu Harus Dibayar Tuntas film directed by Edwin won the Golden Leopard award, the main prize of the international competition Concorso Internazionale held at the 2021 Locarno International Film Festival.

Director Edwin became the first Indonesian to win this award. He hopes this victory will strengthen the Indonesian film industry.

"This Golden Leopard award is a kind of vaccine, booster, or vitamin which is expected to be able to strengthen Indonesian films and all the souls of Indonesian film lovers wherever they are", said Edwin, quoted in a press release today, August 17.

Actor Marthino Lio, the main actor in the film Seperti Dendam uploaded several photos featuring the Golden Leopard trophy. Stickers of the film are also visible in the photo.

Marthino Lio plays Ajo Kawir, a person who struggles with erectile dysfunction. When fighting a woman named Iteung (Ladya Cheryl), Ajo is battered but he has feelings for Iteung.

Besides Marthino Lio, this film also stars Ladya Cheryl (Iteung), Sal Priadi (Gecko), Reza Rahadian (Budi Baik), and Ratu Felisha (Jelita). Seperti Dendam, Rindu Harus Dibayar Tuntas produced by four Asian and European studios.
