Filming In Indonesia, 6 Years Struggle Dev Patel Work On Monkey Man Finally Released

JAKARTA - Actor Dev Patel made his directorial debut through a film called Monkey Man. He recently revealed his six-year struggle to take this film to the big screen.

I'm trying to find a way to tell this story. I want this story to spread," Dev Patel told Variety.

Monkey Man was originally planned to shoot in India, but due to the pandemic, this production had to be delayed. Production was even almost canceled until Patel decided to shoot in Batam, Indonesia.

The film was almost purchased by streaming platforms, however, due to fears the genre is deemed incompatible with the audience, so the film is canceled.

As the process progressed, director Jordan Palele saw this film and became a producer with its production house, Monkeypaw Prods and Universal.

"I was reluctant to be pushed into the driver's seat and it happened from there," said Dev Patel.

The film Monkey Man tells the story of Kid (Dev Patel) who feels that the land he lives in is seized by a corruption police officer. He decided to take revenge against those who have rank and arbitrarily against the lower class.
