BPS Reveals 34 Provinces Experienced Inflation In March 2024

JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) noted that 34 provinces experienced inflation and only 4 provinces experienced deflation from 38 provinces in Indonesia.

Acting Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti said that the highest inflation of 1.07 percent month on month (mom) occurred in North Sulawesi Province.

"While the deepest deflation occurred in Maluku Province at 0.46 percent (mom)," Amalia said at a press conference, Monday, April 1, 2024.

Amalia said that when viewed by region, the highest inflation in Sumatra occurred in North Sumatra and Riau at 0.72 percent, and the lowest inflation was in the Babylon Islands at 0.04 percent.

Then, the highest inflation in Java occurred in Banten Province with inflation of 0.98 percent, and the lowest inflation occurred in DKI Jakarta at 0.37 percent.

Meanwhile, in Kalimantan, the highest inflation occurred in Central Kalimantan at 0.66 percent, and the lowest occurred in West Kalimantan at 0.33 percent.

Meanwhile, in Bali and Nusa Tenggara, the highest inflation occurred in Bali with an inflation condition of 0.91 percent and the lowest occurred in East Nusa Tenggara at 0.14 percent.

Furthermore, in the Sulawesi region, the highest inflation occurred in North Sulawesi with an inflation of 1.07 percent, and the lowest occurred in South Sulawesi at 0.38 percent.

Finally, in the Maluku region of Papua, the highest inflation occurred in Central Papua with an inflation of 1.01 percent, and the lowest occurred in Maluku at 0.46 percent.

For information, inflation conditions in March 2024 amounted to 0.52 percent on a monthly basis or month on month (mom), or higher than inflation conditions in February 2024 which amounted to 0.37 percent.

In March 2024, there will be an annual inflation of 3.05 percent or year on year (yoy).

Meanwhile, inflation on a calendar year (March 2024 to December 2023) reached 0.93 percent year to date (ytd).
