JAKARTA - The Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) and General Chair of the Islamic Economic Community (MES) Erick Thohir leaked a new film project that will be launched in the near future. This film raises the role of santri and Islamic boarding schools in the country, which is entitled Santri United.

The film was produced by the Islamic Economic Community together with the production house, Button Ijo and in collaboration with the Indonesian Cooperative Youth Force (AMKI).

Furthermore, Erick considered the launch of the Santri United film as a form of MES' contribution to the creative industry in the country.

"God willing, next year MES will also encourage the creative economy, namely the collaboration between Button Ijo and AMKI in making the Santri United film. We will launch it, God willing, under the leadership of the Vice President (Ma'ruf Amin)," said Erick, at the Hari Raya event. National Santri held by MES Center virtually, Monday, October 31.

Previously, Erick said that Indonesia is a country blessed with creative filmmakers who will always produce great works. Erick said, although the entertainment industry is one of the business sectors affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, this can be used as a momentum to generate creative ideas and new opportunities.

Erick also said that the Ministry of SOEs would boost the domestic film business. Through the State Production Corporation (PFN), said Erick, the government will cooperate with a number of industries engaged in core business or similar core businesses.

Erick said, PFN will be converted into a financing institution for the Indonesian film industry. Later, PFN will help private film companies to produce films or content that can be distributed to the public.
