JAKARTA - Biological and chronological age can be used as calculations to check the body's health condition. Biological age refers to the age of a person's body organs, while chronological age is the age calculated based on the date and year of birth.

A person with a biological age below chronological age indicates that he or she is youthful, has a fit body and has a longer life expectancy.

"Everyone definitely wants to have a biological age below chronological age. So the term is youthful in appearance and in terms of the organs in the body. Biological age is below chronological age so that we can live longer," said Dr. Nadia Alaydrus, quoted from ANTARA, Monday, October 16.

Staying young doesn't mean focusing on the face but the whole body. This also means not just the skin but other body organs. So that someone can stay young, he needs to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

This healthy lifestyle includes adopting a healthy and nutritionally balanced diet according to the body's needs.

"Eating a lot is not recommended. The important thing is to eat enough and what we eat is what our body needs. Our body is 70-80 percent water and 16 percent is protein, so what we actually need is protein," explained Nadia.

In addition, regular physical activity is also important, plus getting enough sleep and managing stress appropriately.

Nadia added that the public needs to be aware of the importance of paying attention to biological age because people with a young chronological age will have a high risk of developing chronic diseases if their biological age is old.

"By adopting a healthy and active lifestyle, such as exercising, you can help slow biological aging and improve overall health," she said.

Data from the National Sport Development Index Report by the Ministry of Youth and Sports in 2021 shows that more than 75 percent of Indonesian people have a poor fitness level.

An unhealthy body increases the risk of diseases such as stroke, heart and kidney disease.
