Regarding The SYL Extortion Case, Polda Metro Jaya Affirms There Are No Obstacles

JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya stated that they had not found any obstacles in investigating the alleged extortion of former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo. The case that dragged the name of KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri is still being carried out and has even coordinated with the anti-corruption commission. This was conveyed by the Director of Special Crimes at the Polda Metro Jaya Ade Safri Simanjuntak after coordinating at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta today, Friday, November 17. "Until now, we have not found any obstacles or obstacles, which means that we have not found them during the investigation process," Ade said in a press conference after the closed activity. In this process, continued Ade, the KPK has also collaborated and supported the steps of the Polda Metro Jaya. Thus, these two institutions will optimize coordination steps to exchange information around the investigation into the alleged extortion. "So everything is for the purposes of the investigation and currently it is still going well (the process, ed)," he said. Meanwhile, when asked about the title of the case, Ade did not want to talk much. This is because the analysis and evaluation are still being carried out by the Polda Metro Jaya. This step is called important to determine the follow-up to the alleged extortion. "We will definitely update it later," he said. "We guarantee that investigators remain professional, transparent, and accountable, and free from any form of pressure, coercion, and intimidation of any kind and the KPK and the Police are solid in eradicating corruption," continued Ade. Previously reported, the KPK invited Polda Metro Jaya and the National Police Headquarters to discuss the extortion case that allegedly involved its leadership. This coordination is called the Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri in accordance with Law Number 19 of 2019. "That the KPK is tasked with coordinating the handling of cases of alleged corruption," Ali told reporters in a written statement, Wednesday, November 15. Currently, Polda Metro Jaya has examined more than 90 witnesses. They include Syahrul Yasin Limpo, former aide to Firli Bahuri, Kevin Egananta. Then there is the Semarang Police Chief Kombes Pol Irwan Anwar, Director of Dumas KPK Tomi Murtomo, and two former KPK leaders Saut Situmorang and M Jasin. Then Firli has also been examined twice. The second examination was carried out on Thursday, November 16 yesterday.

From the examination, he was said to have received 15 additional questions from investigators. This step was taken to investigate the alleged extortion of Syahrul.
