Two Curian Cellphone Collectors Arrested, Often In Action At Music Concerts

The syndicate of pickpockets from the Senen group with the initials FM (22) and AP (21) were arrested by members of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Kemayoran Police. Both were proven to have confiscated pickpocketed goods at a number of music concerts held in Jakarta.

In addition to securing the two suspects, the police confiscated a number of stolen cellphones from the perpetrators.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Kemayoran Police, AKP Fauzan, said the role of the two perpetrators was to accommodate stolen cellphones at every concert event.

"From the hands of the perpetrators, we secured a number of cellphones from concert visitors," said AKP Fauzan to reporters, Wednesday, September 13.

From his identity, the suspects FM and AP are residents of Senen District, Central Jakarta. The suspect FM lives in Kramat Pulo and the suspect AP lives in Paseban, Senen District.

"In one team of perpetrators, there are four people. Two more people are being hunted and we have pocketed their identities. The gang of perpetrators has theft areas up to Bekasi, West Java and Jakarta," he said.

AKP Fauzan said, before carrying out the action, the perpetrators always observed the movements of the victim who looked careless. After receiving the target, these perpetrators carry out actions in their respective roles.

"So when there are victims, they move together. Some are diverting the attention of the victim, some are tight, some are taking it until someone holds their cellphone with their crime," he said.

For further processing, the two perpetrators were charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code with a penalty of more than 5 years in prison.
