PEKANBARU Sub-Directorate I of the Riau Police's Narcotics Directorate (Ditresnarkoba) managed to arrest two drug dealers in raids in two different locations last Thursday. Of the two suspects, the police confiscated a total of 2.6 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, thousands of happy five pills, and hundreds of ecstasy pills.

The first suspect, Rudi (35), was arrested at a boarding house on Jalan Sutomo, Rintis Village, Fifty District, Pekanbaru City. During the search, the police found evidence in the form of 1,680 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 4,500 happy five pills, and 479.5 ecstasy pills of various brands.

The second suspect, M. Arif (24), was arrested in his boarding house in Tangkerang Utara Village, Marpoyan Damai District, Pekanbaru City. From this location, the police confiscated 1,000 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 1,500 happy five pills, and a number of ecstasy pills of various brands.

The Director of Drug Investigation at the Riau Police, Kombes Pol Manang Soebeti, explained that the disclosure of this case stems from public reports related to suspicious activities at one of the boarding houses on Jalan Sutomo.

"After a raid was carried out on the suspect Rudi's room, we found evidence stored in a room drawer in the form of 1.6 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, thousands of happy five pills, and hundreds of ecstasy pills," said Kombes Manang on Monday, December 23.

From the results of the interrogation of Rudi, it was found that some of the drugs were stored in another location, namely in the boarding room of M. Arif in North Tangkerang Village. The police then provoked Arif to come to Rudi's location, and immediately arrested him.

"We then took the two to boarding house M. Arif to conduct a search. In M. Arif's bedroom cupboard, we again found drugs in the form of methamphetamine, happy five pills, and ecstasy," added Kombes Manang.

Currently, the two suspects are being held at the Riau Police Headquarters. Both were charged with Article 114 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 112 paragraph (2) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics. The threat of punishment for the two suspects is the death penalty, life imprisonment, or a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.

The Riau Police emphasized their commitment to continue to eradicate drug trafficking in their area to protect the public from the dangers of narcotics.
