Inaugurated By President Jokowi, General Agus Subiyanto Officially TNI Commander
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) appointed General Agus Subiyanto as TNI Commander today, Wednesday, November 22. He officially replaces Admiral Yudo Margono who is entering retirement age.
The inauguration was held at the State Palace, Jakarta. Judging from the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube, the activity began with singing the anthem Indonesia Raya and continued with the reading of Presidential Decree Number 102 of the TNI in 2023 concerning the Dismissal and Appointment of the TNI Commander.
"Appoint General Agus Subiyanto... as Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces," reads the decree read by the Presidential Military Secretary Laksda TNI Hersan.
Then President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) pinned his position and handed over the baton to Agus. Then, he led the taking of the oath of office.
"By Allah, I swear that I will be loyal to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia based on Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution, and will carry out all laws and regulations as straight as possible. For the sake of my service to the nation and state," Agus said when saying the oath and promise, following what Jokowi said.
"That in carrying out my duties, I will uphold the ethics of my position, carry out my duties as well as possible and with a full sense of responsibility, that I will uphold the oath of soldiers," he said.
The inauguration was attended by Admiral Yudo Margono, Air Force Chief of Staff (KSAU) Marshal Fadjar Prasetyo, Navy Chief of Staff (KSAL) Admiral Muhammad Ali, and National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

Meanwhile, Agus Subiyanto, who recently served as Army Chief of Staff (KSAD), was proposed by President Jokowi as the sole candidate for TNI Commander to the Indonesian House of Representatives. He was later declared to have passed the fit and proper test.
He was then ratified as TNI Commander at the 9th DPR RI Plenary Meeting for the Second Session of the 2023-2024 Session Year at the DPR RI Building, Senayan, Central Jakarta on Tuesday, November 21.
