Ministry Of Health: Monkeypox Spreads In Jakarta, Banten, And West Java
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) reported the distribution of cases of monkeypox (Mpox) based on the domicile of patients in the provinces of DKI Jakarta, West Java, and Banten.
"To date, there are three additional new cases recorded, all of which are DKI Jakarta. The rest are in West Java and Banten," said Director General (Dirjen) of Disease Prevention and Control of the Indonesian Ministry of Health Maxi Rein Rondonuwu as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, October 31.
The three cases increased the number of monkeypox cases detected in Indonesia to a total of 27 cases per day.
Daily reports of monkeypox in Indonesia issued by the Ministry of Health as of October 29, 2023, there were 24 cases of Mpox spread across DKI Jakarta, namely in South Jakarta nine cases, West Jakarta five cases, East Jakarta three cases, and North Jakarta one case.
Meanwhile, there were two cases in Banten in Tangerang Regency, two cases in South Tangerang City, and one case in Tangerang City. In West Java, there was one case of monkeypox spread in Bandung City.
All confirmed cases were experienced by male patients aged 25 to 48 years. Generally, it has a condition of HIV/AIDS participation.
Maxi said that to this day the Ministry of Health is still carrying out new case tracking activities and 21 suspects have been found.
"Tracing activities are getting better. Currently there are 21 suspected cases waiting for the laboratory confirmation results," he said.

Until now, said Maxi, the Ministry of Health has classified 44 suspects as discarded or not related to monkeypox.
To tackle monkeypox in Indonesia, he said, the Ministry of Health has carried out a number of surveillance and vaccination efforts against the risk key population of 477 targets since October 23, as well as working with various parties in conducting risk communication to minimize the transmission of monkeypox to more people.
He also emphasized the importance of Clean and Healthy Life Behavior (PHBS) and having sex safely.
