Check Out The Ministry Of Energy And Mineral Resources' Plan To Provide Clean Electricity For IKN
JAKARTA - Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Dadan Kusdiana is encouraging efficient and zero carbon energy use in the National Capital City (IKN).
According to Dadan, this is in accordance with IKN's vision of a smart, green, beautiful and accessible city.
"Smart means that energy use must be efficient. If green, it means the energy source must be clean and have less carbon emissions, if possible there is no carbon there. That has become one of the topics and plans of the Government, especially at IKN, to ensure the availability of electrical energy," said Dadan in an electricity webinar quoted on Wednesday, September 13.
Dadan said that currently the development of power plants at IKN is planned to be sourced from New and Renewable Energy (EBT).
Apart from that, for the initial stage of electricity utilization, electric power transmission will be built in stages in line with the development of IKN.
"There are several ongoing projects. One is currently building a hydroelectric power plant (PLTA) in East Kalimantan and North Kalimantan, amounting to 1,053 MW," added Dadan.
Even though it is far from IKN, he said that currently it is planned to withdraw transmission to IKN.
"Indeed, IKN's actual electricity construction was small at the start, later the transmission construction will be carried out in stages in line with the development of the city," continued Dadan.
He explained that the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources is also encouraging the use of other EBT which can be immediately built to meet electricity needs in IKN.
He modeled the construction of solar farms using solar power or rooftop solar power plants (PLTS) in office buildings.
Apart from that, a 780 MW Wind Power Plant (PLTB) is being built in Tanah Laut with a planned Commercial Operation Date (COD) in 2024.
"We can encourage this to accelerate the provision of clean energy," he added.
Dadan detailed that the peak electricity load in IKN in 2045 will reach 791.71 MW and the total capacity is targeted at 1,051 MW.

Meanwhile, for the first 2-3 years, the supply of electricity will still be connected to the existing transmission system, then clean generators will be built in stages.
"This city will grow and be completely ready, if I understand it, that is in 2045. In terms of electricity consumption it will increase and later it will increase. We estimate that in the first 3 years the peak load will reach 73 MW, so electricity demand will be 81 MW. Then it will "This will increase until 2045 to 1,000 MW," he said.
"This is what we continue to push for. What is certain is that there is no choice that it is not a clean generator. This has been mutually understood and agreed upon," he concluded.
