Vice President Invites ASEAN Stakeholders To Strengthen Food Security

JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin invites stakeholders in ASEAN to strengthen food security, especially in the region, amid the threat of climate change.

This was conveyed by the Vice President in his remarks at the ASEAN Business Awards 2023 and Gala Dinner held in Jakarta, Monday, September 4.

"I invite all stakeholders in ASEAN to pay more attention to cooperation in strengthening food security, because our region is not immune from this problem," said the Vice President as quoted by ANTARA.

The Vice President also invited all parties to strengthen the unity and centrality of ASEAN in encouraging the creation of peace and stability of growth in the region.

"The unity and centrality of ASEAN is the main force driving the creation of peace, stability, and growth in the region," said the Vice President.

The vice president also hopes that ASEAN can become a sustainable engine of world economic growth, which respects environmental sustainability in order to achieve a prosperous future, while maintaining the sustainability of planet earth and humanity.

The Vice President believes that the economies of countries in the ASEAN region can continue to improve thanks to the full commitment of stakeholders in building and growing the global economy.

The Vice President assessed that all parties should be optimistic because in the midst of the slump of the world economy, the ASEAN economy grows above the average global economic growth, and the role of ASEAN leaders is committed to implementing a green economy.

On the other hand, the Vice President emphasized the importance of economic democracy as the main consensus in building the economy.

The Vice President also invited stakeholders to strengthen collaboration and find joint solutions to threats, both in the climate sector, economic fluctuations, and the impact of social change.

"I invite to strengthen collaboration in formulating solutions to urgent issues that have an impact on all of us, including the threat of climate change, economic fluctuations, and social change," he said.

At the end of his remarks, the Vice President congratulated the recipients of the 2023 ASEAN Business Awards and expressed appreciation for the hard work of stakeholders who have been dedicated to improving the economy in the ASEAN region.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (BAC) Indonesia M. Arsjad Rasjid emphasized the importance of the business world as one of the pillars in advancing the ASEAN economy.

"The business world must get a portion that should be because it plays an important role in helping the government improve the economy and become an attraction for the region," said Arsjad.
