Zohri Still In Rehabilitation After Injury In Serbia, Coach: After The Doctors Give The Green Light, Just Back On Track
JAKARTA - The head coach of the Indonesian athletics team, Agustinus Ngamel, said that sprinter Lalu Muhammad Zohri is currently in rehabilitation after sustaining a hamstring injury during the World Indoor Athletics Championships at Stark Arena, Belgrade, Serbia on March 18-20.
Agustinus said that under the handling of the team of doctors from the All-Indonesian Athletics Association (PB PASI), Zohri has developed quite well.
"For the time being, Zohri is still doing rehabilitation. Later, after the team of doctors gives the green light, they will return to the track," Agustinus said as quoted by Antara, Tuesday.
Agustinus revealed that Zohri's injury incident occurred because he was not used to the track at the Indoor Athletics Championships. "Zohri went down for the first time at the Indoor Championships. The air there was very cold, even minus. The track after the finish had a slight incline. Zohri was a little surprised there," Agustinus said.
When he took part in the Indoor Athletics World Championships, the 21-year-old sprinter was forced to withdraw from the semifinals of the men's 60m event. Even though Zohri performed well after finishing in third place in Heat 3 and was in ninth place in the entire heat by recording a time of 6.58 seconds.
In the semifinals, Zohri was supposed to compete with world sprinters, such as Marvin Bracy and Christian Coleman from the US, as well as Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Lamont Marcell Jacobs from Italy.
Unfortunately, Zohri could not continue the match in the semifinals in order to keep the injury from getting worse. Although he is still in the rehabilitation stage, Agustinus ensured that Zohri will continue to appear at the SEA Games Hanoi, Vietnam which will take place on May 12-23.
For this reason, the coaching team did not field Zohri in the Singapore Open event in Singapore on April 14-17. "He will focus on his recovery. In Singapore we will conduct a trial for the 4x100 meter relay without Zohri," said Agustinus.

As previously reported, PB PASI will send 12 of the 23 names of athletes prepared to the Hanoi SEA Games for trials in Singapore.
This is the only chance for the Indonesian athletic squad to try out abroad before appearing in Vietnam. Agustinus hopes that all athletes who participate can make the most of the championship in Singapore.
Zohri is one of the athletes who is expected to be able to donate gold to Indonesia at the Hanoi SEA Games. He is expected to play in the men's 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay.
