Car Parking Charged IDR 100 Thousand, DKI Transportation Agency Will Check Extortion Reports At Kali Adem Port, Jakarta

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency will immediately conduct field checks regarding the information on illegal levies at Kali Adem Port, Penjaringan, North Jakarta.

"Thank you for the information, I will immediately conduct a field check," said Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Service (Dishub) Syafrin Liputo in a short message to reporters in Jakarta, Monday, March 21.

The check was carried out in relation to information that stated that the comfort of tourists to the Thousand Islands who brought vehicles was disturbed by a number of irresponsible people at Kali Adem Port.

Illegal levies (extortion) are in the form of parking which is quite expensive. Especially for four-wheeled vehicles that stay or stay overnight can be charged up to IDR 100 thousand.

One of the tourists from East Jakarta, Rosyid (41) admitted that he was surprised when he left his car park at Kali Adem Port. He was asked for an unreasonable amount of parking fees.

"I was asked for IDR 100,000 for parking, he said the price was because the vehicle was staying overnight. In my opinion, it was very expensive, especially since there was no ticket issued by the officer as proof of retribution," he complained, Sunday, March 19.

Not only Rosyid, Santi (29), a resident of Ancol also complained about the suffocating parking extortion. She considered the high parking fee as extortion considering the manager did not collect parking fees.

"I had asked for a parking ticket as a sign of retribution, but the officer who asked for it said not to issue it," she said.

This mother of two children argued that she did not want to argue and attract people's attention, so she chose to pay IDR 100 thousand.

"I hope that the authorities will carry out control, because this has made tourists uncomfortable," she said.

Based on information circulating, the extortion does not only target tourists who leave their vehicles at Kali Adem Port, but also drivers who deliver goods or people.

Kali Adem Port is one of the departure and arrival locations for tourists and the public who will go to and return from a number of islands in the Thousand Islands.
