Hit By Waves, Passenger Boat Capsizes In Mangoli Waters Of Ternate, 1 Person Dies
TERNATE - The Ternate Basarnas Search and Rescue Office, North Maluku, stated that a motorboat had a sea accident in the waters of Mangoli Island, Sula Islands Regency, due to being hit by high waves. One passenger died.
Head of the Operations and Alert Section of the Ternate Basarnas, Bram Madya, said that his party received a report on the incident on Monday at around 12:45 WIT. The motorboat departed from Sanana Harbor to Brokol Village (Mangoli Island).
However, on the way between Mangoli Village and Sanana ship was hit by waves and capsized due to extreme weather.
According to him, at the time of the incident, there was a fishing boat passing and only able to evacuate 3 people, of which two people survived and one passenger died.
"We are still waiting for a report from the SAR Unit of Sanana ship for victim data and the number of POBs waiting for further information from the team in the field," he said when contacted in Ternate, Antara on Monday, February 21.
He explained that the Sanana of SAR Alert Unit Assistance Team along with SAR potential was immediately dispatched to LKP to carry out SAR operations using RIB 03 Sanana.
Previously, a resident of Gane Luar Village, District. Gane Luar, South Halmahera Regency, named Sudirman (50 years old) who was reported missing because he allegedly fell from a motorboat, was finally found floating and died.

He said after finding the victim, the joint SAR team arrived at Gane Luar Village and coordinated with the victim's family.
Then the Joint SAR Team searched a predetermined area using a community speed boat, said Head of the Ternate Basarnas, Muhamad Arafah.
According to him, the Joint SAR team managed to find the victim at a position about 1 NM southwest of LKP, the victim was found dead.
