JAKARTA - Twitch seems to have suffered a hack. A number of codes, unreleased Steam competitor data from Amazon Game Studios, and content creator payment details were leaked to the public.

The hackers posted a message via anonymous forum site 4chan, which they claim includes 125GB of Twitch data in total. The message said that the incident of the leak was done to cause more disruption and competition in the online video streaming space.

The hacker also shared the message, "Jeff Bezos paid $970 million for this, we're giving it away for FREE." Twitch also stated that the data leak did occur and that the team is currently working to fix it.

"We can confirm a violation has occurred. Our team is working with urgency to understand the extent of this. We will update the community as soon as additional information becomes available," Twitch said on its Twitter account as quoted from CNET, Thursday, October 7.

According to the Video Games Chronicle, which was the first to reveal this event, the leaked Twitch data allegedly includes details about creator payments, source code for the mobile, desktop, and video game console Twitch clients, code related to the proprietary SDK.

There's also built-in AWS services, an unreleased Steam competitor from Amazon Game Studios, data on other properties owned by Twitch, and built-in security tools. The data also shows that Twitch made millions of dollars over the past three years, as the top streaming platform.

For information, Twitch is one of the world's top streaming sites, with around 2.5 million people watching streaming. Twitch is becoming popular as a place for gamers to livestream as they play video games, giving viewers the opportunity to discuss what's happening on screen and pay for it via subscriptions.

Today, Twitch has grown into a place where many users create cooking videos, travel vlogs, and just chat, although playing games remains a big draw. Twitch was acquired by Amazon for $970 million in 2014.

Some time ago, Twitch has been facing a lot of issues on its platform. Last month, the company filed a lawsuit against two people suspected of carrying out hate attacks. Twitch has also implemented tools that help streamers filter out harassment in chats on their accounts.
