JAKARTA – Apple plans to no longer produce the mini version of the iPhone after financial reports related to the sales of the iPhone 12 Mini were considered disappointing. It is likely that the iPhone Mini, launched in 2021, will be the last device the company will produce.

CNet reports that the Nikkei Asian Review mentioned the possibility that Apple will not release the iPhone 14 Mini next year. A similar view was also conveyed by observer Ming-Chi Kuo who reported that there would be no mini version of the iPhone in 2022.

According to the previous year's report, consumers were reportedly less interested in the iPhone 12 Mini. The company is also reported to have reduced production of the mini version of the iPhone in the first quarter of 2021 due to weak market demand.

In addition, Counterpoint Research reports that sales of the iPhone 12 Mini in the United States are only about 5 percent of total sales in January 2021. Following this information, rumors that Apple will not produce a mini version of the iPhone are increasingly being reported.

A different opinion was expressed by Canalys research manager, Ben Stanton. According to him, Apple will continue to release the iPhone Mini in the iPhone 13 line this year. The reason is that the lead time for designing smartphones takes quite a long time, which is more than a year. That means, Apple doesn't have enough time to enter iPhone 12 Mini sales data in development for its next-generation, the iPhone 13 Mini.

If you look at the company's trend, Apple usually does not immediately implement significant changes in its products in a short time. CNet reasoned that the mini version of the iPhone was less competitive than the iPhone 11 line that was launched in 2019.

Series of iPhone 11 are sold at a lower price than the iPhone 12 Mini. In addition, the iPhone 11 is also equipped with a 6.1-inch screen size with a battery that can last longer. iPhone 11 also comes with a powerful camera and the relatively new A13 Bionic chipset.
