The IPhone 16 Comes With A More Advanced "Secure Exclave" New Privacy Feature

JAKARTA - Apple is again introducing technological innovations in terms of privacy by launching the latest iPhone 16, which is reinforced by the A18 chip. One of the leading privacy features introduced is "Secure Exclave," which previously only existed on the iPad Pro M4. This feature provides additional protection against microphone and camera abuse, making user privacy more secure.

Secure Exclave was first discovered by developer Guilherme Rambo, and serves as a new security component in the M4 chip and is now also adopted on the A18 chip on the iPhone 16. This component works to handle the operation of camera and microphone indicators on the OLED screen, making it more difficult for malicious apps to access these sensors without the user's knowledge.

One of the advantages of Secure Exclave is the ability to display "Secure Indicator Light" (SIL), a new mechanism that ensures that indicator points when the camera or microphone is active are generated directly through the hardware, not just through the software. Thus, device security is further strengthened as this indicator cannot be manipulated by software-level apps or malware. In the iPad Pro M4, this SIL mechanism was first used to control the indicator point physically, and has now also been implemented on the iPhone 16.

This light indicator feature has actually been introduced since iOS 14, in the form of orange and green dots that appear when microphones or cameras are used by certain applications. However, on iPhone 16, this indicator is enabled directly by hardware, making it safer and harder to ignore by malicious applications. This helps prevent possible eavesdropping or video recording without user consent, ensuring that any sensor usage is completely known to device owners.

The pre-order for the iPhone 16 will begin on Friday, September 13, 2024, and this device will officially launch on the market on September 20, 2024. With these new features, the iPhone 16 is predicted to attract the attention of many users who prioritize security and privacy in the use of their devices.
