Indonesian Badminton Win 7 Golds From Bahrain

The Indonesian badminton team became the overall champion in Bahrain Para Badminton International 2024 (Instagram/@oktila_lr).

JAKARTA The Indonesian badminton team performed solidly and successfully brought home seven gold medals from Bahrain Para Badminton International 2024.

The most successful badminton player Leani Ratri Oktila. She won the gold medal in the women's singles SL4, the SL3-SU5 women's doubles with Khalimatus Sadiyah, and the SL3-SU5 mixed doubles with Hikmat Ramdani.

Another title was won through Ramdani (men's singles SL4), Dheva Anrimusthi (SU5 men's singles), Qonitah Ikhtiar Syakuroh (women's singles SL3), and Fredy Setiawan/Dwiyoko (SL3-SL4 men's doubles).

In addition, Indonesia also won three silver medals and two bronze medals. This result made Indonesia lead the final standings for the medal.

Fredy Setiawan won three silver medals in the men's singles number SL4, the Fredy Setiawan/Khalimatus Sadiyah pair (SL3-SU5 mixed doubles), and the duo Dheva Anrimusthi/Hafizh Briliansyah Prawiranegara (SU5 men's doubles).

The two bronze medals were won by Khalimatus Sadiyah (WOMEN's Singles SL4) and Dwiyoko (Men's Singles SL3).

In the final standings, India was recorded to be trailing in second place. The country managed to get three gold medals from this event.

The heroes for India are Manoj Sarkar (Men's Singles SL3), Prem Kumar Ale/Abu Hubaida (Men's Doubles WH1-WH2), and Alphia James/Pallavi Kuluvehalli (WH1-WH2 women's doubles).

In this tournament, the two-time SU5 Paralympics champion, Cheah Liek Hou, from Malaysia for the first time in a year suffered defeat against Muhammad Fareez Anuar in the semifinals.

Anuar is also the last player to beat Cheah in the Fazza Dubai Para Badminton International final in December last year.

The combination of Cheah and Anuar then won the SU5 men's doubles title match against Anrimusthi/Hafizh Briliansyah Prawiranegara 13-21, 21-17, and 21-16.
