SEMARANG - A primary school student died after a motorcycle was hit by a train at a crossing between Jerakah Station and Semarang Poncol Station, Semarang City, Central Java.

"A motorcycle was ridden by an adult man and two elementary school children," said the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Semarang Police, AKP Untung Ariyono, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, July 20.

According to him, the motorcycle was hit by a freight train that was traveling from west to east.

He explained that the crossing that was the location of the accident was guarded and had a gate.

However, the motorcyclist was allegedly determined to break through even though the crossbar was closed.

"Officers have been warned, but they are determined to break through," he said.

In addition to one death, he said, an adult man who was driving a motorcycle and another elementary school child who was riding along were injured and had to be treated at the hospital.

Meanwhile, the Public Relations Manager of PT KAI Daop 4 Semarang, Luqman Arif, said the train involved in the accident was a container train from Jakarta to Surabaya.

According to him, the train driver had honked several times before the motorcycle passed through the location.
