The Minister Of Communication And Information Suggests That Data Centers Be Built Under Mother And Child Hospitals, Why?

JAKARTA - Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi said that the vulnerability of the data center to be one of the very important issues in the technology sector.

According to him, this is not only happening in Indonesia, but even other countries are also facing the same issue. Like the recent data center fire incident against the Alibaba Cloud (Aliyun) server in Singapore.

Reflecting on the incident, jokingly, Minister of Communication and Information Budi said that the data center should be located and built under the mother and child hospitals to be safe.

"Singapore, the data center is also a fire. I'm kidding, the safest data center is under the mother and child hospitals so they don't become targets," Budi said at the Ngopi (Ngobrol Pintar) with Kominfo: Action & Fintech Strategy to Face Online Gambling Fraud on Wednesday, September 11.

On Tuesday, September 10, the server room of the Alibaba Cloud (Aliyun) data center in Singapore caught fire, caused by a lithium battery explosion causing a fire and an increase in temperature.

In Indonesia alone, the Temporary National Data Center (PDNS) 2 in Surabaya experienced a ransomware attack. As a result, many public services are not operating or errors.

Meanwhile, soon Indonesia will have a national data center (PDN) I located at the Greenland International Industrial Center, Deltamas, Cikarang which has an area of approximately 15,994 m2, with an investment of around Rp. 2.7 trillion.

Kominfo targets the PDN I project in Cikarang to be completed in August 2024. Despite the delay, this PDN is targeted to be completed in October.

However, in terms of infrastructure development, the Director General of Informatics Applications (Aptica) of Kominfo Hooky Situngkir said that the readiness of PDN I was more than 70 percent. Meanwhile, in terms of design, it has reached around 80 percent.
