JAKARTA Wolters Kluwer, a provider of software solutions, supports the integration of the health system in Indonesia. They develop a platform for health services that wants to get data easily.

Norman Deery, Vice President Sales of Wolters Kluwer Asia Pacific, told VOI that improving the quality of health services globally is part of his company's commitment. Wolters is determined to present end-to-end solutions on its platform.

"Our goal is very clear," Deery said in particular to VOI. "(we are focused on improving the quality of health services globally. And the big statement, we are carrying out the mission and we are progressing very well."

As part of Wolters' commitment, Deery revealed that his company continues to improve the UpToDate platform regularly. On this platform, all health care providers in collaboration with Wolters can see a patient's medical history.

Wolters also makes access to the UpToDate platform easier. Hospitals partnering with Wolters can download UpToDate applications on Android and iOS. That way, health service providers can access patient data remotely.

So far, Wolters have not been able to confirm how accurate the response the app provides. However, according to the name of the app, Wolters Kluwer seeks to provide accurate data through periodic updates.

"Health services can update the medical history of patients in the application, at the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). If the patient changes health services, if the hospital is still working with Wolters Kluwer, the data can still be accessed easily," explained Deery.

In addition to updating UpToDate regularly, Wolters are also trying to take advantage of Artificial Intelligence (AI) such as other medical technology service providers. Manish Vazirani, Vice President of Dxg CE Health Product Software Engineering Wolters Kluwer, explained that the implementation of AI started from the most basic thing.

"The most basic use of AI starts with our search algorithm. So, if you look for the latest information and you type UTI keywords, the system will automatically ask you to do the next few searches," said Manish.

Manish added that the algorithms they use come from learning machine models. Wolters also uses AI in other UpToDate systems such as for drug databases, complicated allergic information, to the use of chatbots.

"We updated the (UpToDate) algorithm conceptually so we might be the most widely used by the public," said Manish. "UpToDate users can ask specific medical questions to applications, related to certain diseases, certain genders, and certain ages."

To ensure there are no errors or flaws in chatbots, UpToDate's development team always ensures the answers periodically. The answer given by UpToDate is also directly checked by health workers so that the answer is accurate.
