Celebrate 35 Years of Working, Twilite Orchestra Holds a Special Concert at the Jakarta Symphony Hall

JAKARTA - The oldest symphony orchestra in Indonesia which is still active until now, Twilite Orchestra, is preparing to hold a major music performance titled "Twilite Orchestra 35th Anniversary Concert".

The concert in commemoration of the 35th anniversary of the large ensemble led by Addie MS is scheduled to take place at the Jakarta Symphony Hall, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, on September 6.

The enthusiasm of classical music lovers for this event seems so high. When online ticket sales opened on July 16, all quotas were sold out in just one hour. The high interest of the audience confirms the public's appreciation for the track record of the orchestra created by Addie MS.

In this celebration of three and a half decades, Twilite Orchestra has prepared a collaborative music feast on an international scale. The concert stage will feature a soprano singer from the Sydney Opera House, Meechot Marrero, who will be accompanied by the performance of one of Indonesia's best tenor soloists, Oswin Wilke.

In addition, the harp game from Rama Widi is sure to enrich the musical arrangements brought by 74 musicians in the Twilite Orchestra.

The grandeur of the performance was also strengthened by the involvement of 200 singers from a combined choir from six groups, including the Twilite Chorus, Perbanas Institute Choir, PSM IPB Agria Swara, Gita Swara Jaya Choir, Uhamka Choir, and PSM Universitas Mercu Buana.

The repertoire to be presented is specially designed to illustrate the journey of the Twilite Orchestra since its inception in 1991 to the present. The show summarizes various genres, ranging from film music, game music, Broadway musicals, classical opera, to Indonesian regional song compositions.

Several classical compositions that were also prepared include "Die Fledermaus Overture" by Johann Strauss II, "Liberi Fatali" by Nobuo Uematsu, "Phantom of the Opera" by Andrew Lloyd Webber, and "Fantasia Nusantara" by Addie MS.

The moment of 35 years of work was very emotional for the founder and conductor, Addie MS. He did not expect the music group that he had initiated with his colleagues since June 8, 1991 to be able to survive so far in the dynamics of the Indonesian music industry.

"I don't imagine Allah SWT allowed me to work with Twilite Orchestra until today. At the beginning of the establishment of Twilite Orchestra, some of my colleagues commented that we would not last more than two months, because the symphonic music ecosystem was indeed very unconducive at that time," said Addie MS at a press conference in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, Tuesday, July 28.

He added that the consistency and sustainability of the Twilite Orchestra to date cannot be separated from the continued support of friends, media, families, and supporting pillars who believe in the vision of developing orchestral music in Indonesia.

Meanwhile, for symphony music lovers who have not obtained tickets in the general sale, special allocations are still provided for Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) customers which can be purchased through the BRImo application.
