Kominfo Plans To Create A Special Team To Order Illegal Net RT/RW

JAKARTA - Until now, the government through the Ministry of Communication and Information is still trying to curb the practice of reselling illegal home internet services or RT/RW Nets.

According to the Director General of Post and Information Administration of the Ministry of Communications and Informatics Wayan Toni, Kominfo has taken action against several illegal RT/RW Nets. However, there is no exact figure on how many RT/RW Nets have been prosecuted.

"The data is not yet valid, we will try to convey it later. But hundreds have been prosecuted by the control director's friends," Wayan said after the APJII 7th Annual Golf Tournament 2024 event on Sunday, August 25.

Wayan said that finding and taking action against illegal RT/RW Nets is not an easy thing, because Indonesia is very wide, especially since there are many internet service providers (ISPs) at this time.

"Meanwhile, we in the field don't know which customers, which ones he sells. We have to look for one by one. We have to look for construction until the construction is known or for example the network configuration is between the customer and the legal internet implementation," he explained.

Nevertheless, Wayan revealed that Kominfo plans to form a special team that will focus on controlling illegal RT/RW Nets in the country, including collaborating with the police.

However, Wayan has not been able to mention the control mechanism in detail, because according to him, the formation is still in the planning stage.

"But in terms of coaching, we have also reminded the ISP operators who are licensed to look back at their customers, because sometimes these customers play alone," he said.
