JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto has allocated a budget of IDR 4.7 trillion for the Free Health Check Program for 60 million people in Indonesia starting this year.
This was conveyed by the spokesman for the Presidential Communication Office, Dedek Prayudi, in his statement in Bogor, West Java, Friday, January 3.
"The president's perspective on health is not just to treat sick people. Promotive, preventive efforts are far more important than curative ones," said Dedek as quoted by Antara.
President Prabowo Subianto stressed the importance of preventing disease and free health screening to reduce deaths from cardiovascular disease and other non-communicable diseases.
The program is intended for health screening needs, free health checks for all members of society in all life cycles.
According to data from the 2023 Socio-Economic Registration (Regsosek), the highest cause of death in Indonesia is non-communicable disease. In Indonesia, the death rate due to heart disease or cardiovascular disease reaches more than 600 thousand people per year.
"Almost equivalent to the population of one Cimahi City in West Java. The Prabowo-Gibran government considers this very urgent to be given special attention," said Dedek.
People with hypertension, cholesterol or even heart attacks, said Dedek, can be suppressed and even saved if people routinely check their health.
