JAKARTA - Qualcomm has just announced their latest System on Chip (SoC), Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, which offers improved CPU performance, on-device artificial intelligence (AI), and promising camera capabilities.

The Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 is not a Qualcomm flagship chip, but is designed for middle-class devices that want high performance at no high price. This chip has a 1+3+4 core configuration, with one main core that reaches speeds of up to 2.5GHz, three performance cores up to 2.4GHz, and four efficiency cores at 1.8GHz.

This chip is built with a 4nm process and equipped with a Kryo CPU, Adreno GPU, as well as an onboard NPU for AI processing. Qualcomm mentions that the CPU on this chip is 20% stronger, and its GPU can improve performance by up to 40% compared to the previous model, with a power saving of 12%.

The NPU on Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 is capable of handling tasks such as multi-language translation and transcription as well as contextual detection. Qualcomm also highlights the capabilities of this chip in AI-based noise-cancellation. The AI sector on this chip shows up to double performance improvement compared to the Micro NPU used by Qualcomm on the Sensing Hub.

This chip also supports the setup of three cameras with a resolution of up to 21MP each, or a dual camera configuration of 23+21MP. Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 is capable of handling 4K and HDR 10-bit video captures, and supports the FHD+ display with a refresh rate of 144Hz.

In terms of connectivity, Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 supports 5G mmWave and Wi-Fi 6E networks. Qualcomm also states that these new chips support more networks and bandwidth globally than previous versions.

Some brands like RealMe, Samsung, Sharp, and Xiaomi are expected to use Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 on their devices to launch in the coming months.
