JAKARTA - A vulnerability found in the Microsoft app for macOS has allowed hackers to spy on Mac users. Security researchers from Cisco Talos revealed how this vulnerability could be exploited by attackers and the steps Microsoft is taking to fix the security gap.

According to a report from Cisco Talos, this vulnerability allows hackers to access microphones and cameras on Mac devices without the user's knowledge.

This vulnerability works by injecting malicious bibliography into Microsoft applications such as Outlook and Teams to get the privileges and permissions given by users.

Although Microsoft has updated Microsoft Teams and OneNote apps for macOS to tackle the issue, applications such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook are still vulnerable to exploitation.

Cisco Talos also highlighted that Apple could make changes to the TCC (Transparency Consent and Control) system to improve the security of this system.

Currently, Microsoft is working to fix this vulnerability, but it seems the fix is not yet a top priority for the company.
