JAKARTA Meta Quest, virtual reality headset (VR), will allow users to watch Netflix on the browser. In the near future, users don't need to sideload just to watch Netflix. Actually, Quest users can watch Netflix through the original app that has been launched since 2019. However, Netflix for Quest doesn't get the latest updates and its broadcast resolution is still very limited. Netflix apps can only screen movies or series in 480p resolutions, a very poor resolution for VR headsets. Therefore, many Quest users are sideloading the Netflix Android app to get the best resolution. This effort is no longer required as browser apps on Quest will support Netflix. Meta says that, "In the coming days, you will be able to launch Browsers, enter Netflix, and enjoy new classic and favorite films." In addition, Meta allows Netflix playback in high resolution. Quest users no longer need to access Netflix applications with 480p resolution because the browser version of Netflix already supports a much better resolution.

"(You can watch movies) in high resolution. You can choose between a flat 2D screen or a theater display for a long-range curved screen," explains Meta via its official blog. Meta also adds background audio support to the 2D app on its device. With this new capability, Quest users will listen to music in the background even though the 2D application being played is being minimized.
