JAKARTA - The Ministry of Tourism (Kemenpar) urges tourists who plan to vacation in Bali during the Christmas and New Year 2025 holidays to always monitor information regarding weather conditions at their destination tourist sites.

Acting Deputy for Marketing at the Ministry of Tourism, Ni Made Ayu Marthini, conveyed this directive in Denpasar, Thursday. He emphasized the importance of vigilance so that incidents such as fallen trees at Monkey Forest tourist attractions, Gianyar, which caused casualties, did not repeat themselves.

"Visitors should monitor weather conditions before leaving. If the weather is not possible, it is better to postpone it until the situation improves. When you arrive at the location, make sure facilities such as shelters, umbrellas, or the presence of security officers, including the tourism police, are available," said Ayu.

Ayu explained that the incident in Monkey Forest was indeed caused by natural factors that were difficult to avoid. However, anticipatory steps must still be taken to minimize risks. In addition to tourists who are expected to actively take advantage of information from the BMKG, the role of tourism object managers is also very important.

"Alam is unavoidable, but managers must ensure their tourist attraction has clear operational standards to ensure security. We support Monkey Forest's temporary shutdown step after the incident as the right move," he added.

Monkey Forest managers have also conducted a thorough evaluation of the condition of the trees in the area to ensure similar incidents do not happen again in the future.

According to Ayu, it is important for tourism managers to provide transparent information to visitors regarding the situation at the location. This is similar to the efforts of the Ministry of Tourism which routinely provides tourist recommendations in accordance with weather conditions through social media.

"Bali is one of the government's priority destinations during the Christmas and New Year holidays. In fact, the National Police Chief, the Military Commander, and related institutions such as Basarnas and BMKG have gone directly to the field to ensure the readiness of risk mitigation during this rainy season," he explained.

With collaboration between tourists, managers, and related parties, Ayu is optimistic that the holiday experience in Bali can remain safe and enjoyable despite the challenges of the weather.
