Walt Disney Acquires IDR 23.4 Trillion Epic Games Shares

JAKARTA Walt Disney Company announced that it will acquire Epic Games equity shares, a game development company. This acquisition is worth USD 1.5 billion (IDR 23.4 trillion).

After this acquisition is made, Disney and Epic Games will collaborate in creating a new world of games and entertainment. Disney fans can play their favorite characters from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and others.

Apart from playing Disney characters, fans and gamers can create stories from the ideas they develop. They can also share favorite content about characters or storylines from Disney films on the Unreal Engine app.

Walt Disney Company CEO Robert A. Iger said that this collaboration is part of his company's expansion. Even though Disney has entered the gaming industry, this is a big step for the company in the gaming world.

This marks the entry of Disney's largest into the gaming world and offers significant growth and expansion opportunities. We can't wait for fans to feel the stories of Disney and the world they love in an innovative new way," Iger said.

Meanwhile, Epic Games CEO Timmengatakan bahwa kolaborasi ini akan menciptakan sebuah hal yang baru. Keduanya akan, Buntup ekosistem yang tak, terbuka, dan dapat operasi yang akan memunitkan komunitas Disney dan Fortnite.

Before the news of this acquisition was announced, Disney and Epic had been collaborating for a long time. They have integrated Fortnite content, seasonal collaboration, activated in gaming, and created the Marvel Nexus War event which attracted 15.3 million players.

All asset and content production in the Disney portfolio was created using Unreal Engine, a software designed by Epic Games to create games. This tool is capable of creating cinematic editing and animation for movies.
