JAKARTA - Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa revealed that he will hold a meeting with the Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Nanik S. Deyang, this week.

One of the topics that could potentially be discussed in the meeting is the budget for the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) Program.

Purbaya said the agenda of the meeting had actually been planned earlier, but had to be postponed due to a call from President Prabowo Subianto.

"Oh, later this week. Yesterday he wanted to come, but he didn't because he was called by the President, but later we, I don't know what it's like," he told the media, Monday, June 15.

When asked about the possibility of discussing budget efficiency, Purbaya emphasized that the meeting was not necessarily discussing this.

He said the meeting with the Head of BGN was more of a coordination and working relationship.

"It's not necessarily efficiency, he just wants to meet," he said.

Previously, Purbaya said that the realization of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program budget until the end of May 2026 had reached Rp. 88.15 trillion or increased by 17.53 percent compared to the realization in the previous month which was Rp. 75 trillion.

"The realization of the Free Nutritious Meal budget so far has reached Rp. 88.15 trillion for 63.13 million recipients," said Purbaya at the APBN KiTa press conference, Friday, June 5.

Until the end of May 2026, the number of beneficiaries was recorded at 63.1 million people, consisting of 48.9 million students and 14.3 million non-students which include pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and toddlers.

This number has increased compared to April 2026 which reached 62 million recipients.

In addition, the government noted that there were 29,670 Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) that had been operating until the end of May 2026, and each SPPG was known to serve around 500 to 3,000 beneficiaries.

Previously, the government decided to cut the budget ceiling for the MBG Program in the 2026 State Budget from Rp. 335 trillion to Rp. 268 trillion.

The policy is an order from President Prabowo Subianto that the management of MBG funds can be carried out more efficiently and accurately.

In addition, there are signals of the potential for further savings for the MBG program, although until now the government has not explained the details of the policy.
