ENS And GoDady Partner To Connect Domain.eth To Web2 Domain Without Additional Costs

JAKARTA - The partnership between Ethereum Name Service (ENS) and GoDady domain registrars will allow the Web3 community to connect their.eth (domains) names to traditional Web2 domains at no additional cost.

As a decentralized domain name (DNS) system, the.eth ENS domain allows users to register domain names on Web3, simplifying complicated wallet addresses into easy-to-read names. With the presence of GoDaddy, Web3 users can now connect their.eth domains with traditional URLs at no additional cost.

The GoDady-ENS partnership removes high gas cost barriers that previously made users reluctant to bring domain names to ENS. Paul Nicks, the domain president of GoDady, highlighted this development as a "fusion between domain names and blockchain technology," which benefits the Web2 and Web3 ecosystems.

According to the ENS report, the transition is possible by deploying new smart contracts for the resolution process. As a result, DNS domain holders can feel a new form of self-relativity by having greater control over their own decentralized identities.

In July 2023, GoDady's Web3 competitor, Unstoppable Domains, allowed users to purchase.eth's name with an additional payment method and functionality to simplify ENS domain management.

All.eth domains purchased from Unstoppables are registered through ENS smart contracts and have the same functionality as those registered directly through ENS.
