JAKARTA - Threads was so excited when it was first launched in July 2023. Meta's new social media is claimed to be a competitor to X, but it turns out that the number of active users is decreasing.

According to an analysis of the web analytics company, Similarweb, quoted on Tuesday, August 15, the number of daily active users and the time spent in Threads fell in just one month after launch.

It was recorded that on July 7, Threads daily users increased by 49.3 million, but then decreased by 79 percent to 10.3 million as of August 7.

In the United States (US), the number of daily active users reached 2.3 million on July 7 and fell to 576,000 as of August 7.

In addition, the data also shows users don't spend much time on Threads. Similarweb stated, the average amount of time users spend daily active with the app starts at around 14 minutes, worldwide.

The Teapi is significantly higher in the US which was almost 21 minutes on July 7. Meanwhile, on August 7, it fell to 3 minutes only.

The company also compares data from X (previously Twitter) which has more than 100 million daily active users on Android, and they consistently spend about 25 minutes per day on Elon Musk's microblogging site.

Threads is claimed to be an application for temporary evacuation of X users who criticize all Musk's actions. However, Threads is considered a lack of interesting content, making them return to platform X.

For information, Threads is not much different from X which brings a microblogging experience to its users.

In this application, users can retweet other people's text uploads by clicking Repost and creating a tweet thread with the available options.

There were also counters who showed the number of likes and replies that a post had received. The ability to share direct posts to Instagram Stories is also offered by Threads.

Verified Instagram accounts are also automatically verified in Threads and can be arranged as public or private.

In the new application, users can upload videos for up to five minutes and can be shared as links on other platforms.

Users can also stop following, block, limit, and report others and filter replies with certain words in them. Threads can now be downloaded on the Google Play Store and App Store.
