JAKARTA - Actor Dimas Aditya revealed his journey to play the character of Officer Teddy in his latest film, Urang Bunian. He admitted that he learned the attitude and lost weight for this character.
"Some of them have been researched directly by Rendy (Director) himself, one of which is when he asked for a permit to the TNI. So I dug more from them about what the role was like, what the personality needed by a TNI was like. So more discussions with the director," explained Dimas Aditya in East Jakarta on Monday, August 10.
When watching the trailer for the first time, Dimas explained, "It's beyond expectations. It seems like we filmed it simply but it turns out... I keep seeing that I'm thin."
"The challenge is to try to get close to what an officer is like. So I keep eating for fear of getting fat even though I was busy during filming," he continued.
Furthermore, Tika Bravani's husband explained that he only knew about the urang bunian in depth because of this production. He was also worried because the shooting only lasted 10 days but thanks to the help of many people, he was able to make this film.
"I've heard it but I don't have much knowledge about it. So, the first time I was contacted by Rendy, because Rendy I'm friends with him. Then he said there was a movie, there was a character for you, it seemed to be suitable for Orang Bunian," he said again.
"The most suspicious thing was that I was shooting for 10 days, because I had never shot there for 10 days. But Rendy convinced himself, because he was an actor, so he knew if the actors were starting to get nervous what he had to do, simplify the scene or what. But thank God everything went smoothly," he said.
Thanks to this film, Dimas also finally returned to shooting in Tanah Minang. To prepare for his character, he focused on losing weight and making his body look fitter.
"I do gym 6 days a week. So I only have a day off on Sunday, but during those 6 days I always train for two hours. And keep eating like that. But in the end I got sick when I finished this shooting process because it was 10 days we were shooting non-stop. Every time I finish shooting, I don't sleep right away, I just sleep for three hours and I go back to the gym again. So after this shooting is finished, I got sick," said Dimas Aditya.
"At that time, I was really a gym freak and I also wanted to take care of my body there so that it would stay the same, so every time I got home, I slept for only 4 hours and I immediately went to the gym again. Eating was initially reduced, but later, when I was in West Sumatra, people there were offended if they offered a feast but we didn't eat," he said again.
Meanwhile, the film Urang Bunian will be shown in cinemas starting September 17, 2026.
