JAKARTA - Apple has recently received protests from parents who apply Screen Time or Screen Time on mobile phones for children to use, but the feature doesn't work optimally.

The company admitted that it turned out that there were bugs or problems that caused the Screen Time feature to not work and instead provided unlimited access for their children to play the device.

Apparently, Screen Time arrangements were reset to default mode even though the changes had been made by the parents, protesting this in Apple's forum, according to a Wall Street Journal (WSJ) report.

It is known, Screen Time is a feature in a cloud-based Family Sharing tool, where parents can set screen time limits, content and privacy limits across Apple devices.

In the Screen Time setting, Downtime (Time Stop) can be used by parents to determine how many hours their children can use the device every day, limit their use or make the device unusable.

WSJ found that the Downtime settings failed to be properly saved. In one case, a person must set the limits of that feature three times before it is properly stored.

As a result, children have more access to their devices than their parents want.

Apple later confirmed that there was indeed a bug and is currently working on a solution. Unfortunately, the company did not explain the root cause of the incident.

"We are aware that some users may be having problems where the Screen Time settings are suddenly reset," Apple said, quoted by The Verge and Mashable, Monday, July 31.

"We are handling this report very seriously and we have, and will continue to, make updates to improve the situation."
