JAKARTA - The government of El Salvador has announced a new educational program called "CUBO+" which aims to produce elite-level Bitcoin and Lightning developers through the El Salvador university system. The program will start in May and will consist of a small cohort of students selected from the best universities in El Salvador and under 25 years of age.

The program will be privately funded and eligible students will receive a stipend to cover course fees. Additionally, students who complete this program will be provided with several options to continue their Bitcoin journey, including the option to start a full-time job at a well-known Bitcoin company.

This program will be led by one of the best figures in Bitcoin to be announced soon. Classes will cover topics from high-level technical development specifically for Bitcoin, to distributed technologies such as Holepunch, Nostr, and Web5.

The first two months of the program will be held online, after which there will be a two-week boot camp in San Salvador. The following months will include in-person online mentorships with some of the biggest names in Bitcoin.

However, things have not been easy for President Nayib Bukele and his supporters who advocate using Bitcoin. Since the government authorized Bitcoin as the legal tender in September 2021, the Bitcoin market has experienced a long period of volatility.

Even so, Bukele has no plans to change his obsession with cryptos and is even seeking a second term in the upcoming election after the relatively high level of approval from the people of El Salvador.

The "CUBO+" program will provide the infrastructure for others to take advantage of the open-source standard for high-level Bitcoin Education. Educational experts have also contributed to course design which aims to set a standard for other countries to follow.

Other options of entrepreneurial or educational opportunities will also be offered to students completing this course in El Salvador. The name "CUBO+" comes from a project that President Nayib Bukele started while serving as mayor of San Salvador, whereby the city would construct buildings in relatively poor areas, and this development would serve as a library and community center for more education. This program aims to create inspiration to build the future of El Salvador.
