KSAL: 10 Indonesian Navy Kitchens Ready To Supply Free Nutrition Food Starting January 6

JAKARTA - Indonesian Navy Chief of Staff Admiral TNI Muhammad Ali said as many as 10 public kitchens were ready to supply free nutritious food to school children around the Indonesian Navy headquarters in various regions starting January 6, 2025.

Ali said the Indonesian Navy targets 18 public kitchens to operate as of January 6. In fact, the Indonesian Navy is able to operate 96 public kitchens if they receive sufficient budget.

"In the future, the headquarters throughout Indonesia from Sabang to Merauke can actually be used if the budget is sufficient to build a kitchen. We have prepared a place," said Admiral Ali during a press conference in Jakarta as reported by ANTARA, Friday, January 3.

A total of 10 Indonesian Navy public kitchens that are ready to operate to support the free nutritious food program include kitchens in Brigif 1 Marines (Jakarta), Seskoal, Pusdikmar, Infantry Brigade (Brigif) 2 Marines Gedangan, Combat Assistance Regiment (Menbanpur) 2 Karangpinang Marines.

Furthermore, the Makassar Navy Main Base (Lantamal) VI, Biak Navy Base (Lanal), Brigif 4/BS Lampung Headquarters Company, and Infantry Battalion (Yonif) 10 Batam Marines.

Eight other public kitchens that were also prepared by the Indonesian Navy for a free nutritious dining program include kitchens at the Opak Surabaya Marine Base, Marine Training Command (Kolatmar) PLP Purboyo Malang, Infantry Battalion 7 Marines Lampung, Infantry Battalion 8 Marines Base Brandan Belawan.

Then Infantry Battalion 9 Marines Lampung, Marine Troops (Pasmar) 3 Sorong Katapop, Lantamal XI Ambon, Lanal Tegal, Lanal Lhokseumawe, Lanal Malang, public kitchens in the Kodiklatal environment, and the Seramaung Surabaya Marine 2 Marine Regiment.

Apart from that, Admiral Ali added that the Indonesian Navy is also ready to deploy its mobile kitchens in the battalions and equipment (yonbekpal) of the Indonesian Navy's Marine Corps.

"We have several field kitchens that can be mobile," continued Ali.

Throughout 2024, the Indonesian Navy has held a number of free nutritious food trials in various locations in Indonesia. A total of 18 public kitchens at the headquarters of the Indonesian Navy have been tested to provide nutritious food for school children.

Separately, the Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Dadan Hindayana said the free nutritious food program will be held starting January 6, 2025. In its implementation, there are more than 900 public kitchens that will operate to provide nutritious food for school children.

Eating free nutrition is one of the priority programs of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka's government. The program is also included in the implementation of the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) for the 2025 '2029 period.
