JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia announced that the mandatory biodoesel B40 program will take effect on January 1, 2025. This was conveyed through a press conference held today, Friday, January 3 at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Building.

With this mandatory enactment, the B40 quota will then be increased to 15.6 million KL from the previous 12.98 KL program.

"We have just finished discussing the meeting in detail regarding biodiesel matters. We have decided from ESDM about the increase from B35 to B40 and today we announce that it will take effect as of January 1, 2025," said Bahlil, Friday, January 3.

Bahlil explained, based on data from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, through this program Indonesia can save foreign exchange of up to 9.33 billion US dollars or Rp. 147.5 trillion. Previously, in the B35 Indonesia program, it saved foreign exchange of up to Rp122.97 trillion.

As for the absorption of labor for the B40 program, it is estimated that it will reach 1.95 million workers on farm and 14,730 workers off farm. The use of B40 is also ensured to reduce the gas emissions of kca houses by 41.46 million tons of CO2.

For now, said Bahlil, his party is still making improvements to the B40 water level

"Now the water level is 320, there are still steps to be taken regarding transportation because we will increase the ship's specs, so that the water level is really minimal," explained Bahlil.

If it is successfully repaired, Bahlil ensures that this program will continue to the B50 program by 2060.

"God willing, in 2026 we must push to B50 according to Pak Prabowo's direction," said Bahlil.
