Rosneft-Pertamina Cooperation Effective, Russian President Vladimir Putin Adds Energy Projects In Indonesia

JAKARTA - Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his country's readiness to increase cooperation in the energy sector with Indonesia, including increasing the supply of liquefied oil and natural gas (LNG) to the national market.

In a joint press statement with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at St. Palace. Petersburg, Thursday, June 19, President Putin said a number of Russian companies had worked effectively in Indonesia and were ready to expand their contribution.

"Russian companies work in Indonesia effectively, we are willing to increase the supply of liquid oil and LNG to the Indonesian market," he said, quoted by Antara.

He also said the ongoing strategic collaboration between Rosneft and Pertamina in the construction of refineries and petrochemical facilities in East Java Province was a clear example of strengthening economic relations between the two countries in the energy sector.

Reporting from Pertamina's official website, the project, which has been established since November 2017, is known as the GerR Tuban Refinery (Grass Root Refinery Tuban) and is run through a joint venture company called PT Pertamina Rosneft Pengolahan & Petrokimia (PRPP).

The Tuban Grass Root Refinery (GRR) refinery is a fuel refinery with advanced technology with a crude oil processing capacity of 300 thousand barrels per day.

The Tuban GRR refinery is capable of producing a total fuel of 10.921 kilo tons per year and 5060 kilo tons of petrochemical products and other petrochemical derivatives per year.

President Putin said Russia also opened up opportunities for involvement in new energy projects and the development of oil and gas infrastructure in Indonesia.

"We are willing to participate in new projects to take off Indonesia and modernize infrastructure to boost oil production in old fields," said President Putin.
