JAKARTA - Head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri announced on Twitter that the Notes feature is now available to all users in Europe and Notes.

First introduced in December to some users, this feature gives users the ability to share short posts of up to 60 characters.

Even though at that time it was claimed to be similar to Twitter, Instagram Notes would only appear right at the top of the inbox on the Direct Messages (DM) tab.

Just like the concept of Instagram stories, Notes will only be visible for only 24 hours, and replies will be displayed as DMs.

In the video he posted, Mosseri explained why Europe and Japan were not included in the initial launch of the Notes. He said that Instagram needed to ensure that the feature complied with local regulations before bringing it to the region.

With that in mind, Instagram says it will eventually take a few days for the feature to reach all users in the two new regions.

At the time of the initial release of Notes, Mosseri revealed, there were many positive responses during testing. Additionally, the aim of this feature is to provide users with a relaxed and spontaneous way to express themselves and connect with others.

"Notes give people a relaxed and spontaneous way to express themselves and connect with one another," Instagram said in a blog post last December.
