JAKARTA - WhatsApp is reportedly developing a new feature that allows its users to send messages at one glance.

In the update shared by WABetainfo, WhatsApp is working on bringing the ability to send text messages which can be viewed only once, similar to the previous feature which allowed users to send photos for a single view.

According to the screenshot shared, you will see a new dedicated button placed to the right of the chat bar, located right in the same place as the airplane icon for sending messages.

The difference is that this new button has an airplane icon accompanied by a small padlock icon next to it. This means, you are sending a one-view text message.

If launched later, this one-view text message feature will make the message disappear from the conversation when the recipient has opened it. The text will then become unreadable.

It's not clear how it works, but you can guess how this feature works similar to how Vanish Mode works on Instagram Direct Message (DM).

When you enable Vanish Mode in your DM chat room with someone else, then that person will receive your message when they open it. However, when they close the chat room, and reopen it, the conversation will disappear.

Note that, as this feature is under development, the layout of the one-time view of the text bubble and submit button may change prior to release.

This feature might come in very handy when you share very important information and you want to quickly delete it from the recipient's phone for added privacy so you don't even have to delete the view once the text for everyone as it will be deleted automatically.

The ability to send view after text message will be released in a future WhatsApp beta update for Android.
