Broken Nose, Jordi Really Wants To Appear Against Japan

JAKARTA Indonesian national team defender Jordi Amat is determined to wear a protective mask to maintain a broken nasal bone injury against Japan later.

The 31-year-old defender did not finish the match when Indonesia won 1-0 over Vietnam, Friday, January 19 evening WIB. It was the first victory of the Garuda Squad in Group D of the 2023 Asian Cup.

Jordi could not help Indonesia finish the match after a clash with an opposing player that broke the small bone. He was also pulled out and replaced by Rizky Ridho.

However, Jordi hopes to defend Indonesia against Japan in the last match of the group later. He also plans to use a protective mask so he can play.

"Yes, I have a small fracture next to my nose, I think two days of rest is enough for healing and I hope I can play with masks to protect my face," said Jordi.

"It's uncomfortable because it hurts but I hope the inflammation will disappear in a few days," he added.

The victory against Vietnam made Indonesia keep hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages. Shin Tae Yong's troops automatically qualify if they win over Japan later.

If the word draw or lose the fate of Jordi and his friends can still be safe. However, this scenario must depend on the results of other matches.

"A great win for Indonesia, we deserve it. We show character and enthusiasm in the game. Playing against Iraq is a big test, now you see how good they are and we are competing against them, so now is the time to recover, as well as myself and then let's fight against Japan," said Jordi.

Garuda troops will face Japan in the final match of Group D on Wednesday, January 24, 2024. This match will be played at Al Thumama Stadium, Doha, Qatar at 14.30 local time or 18.30 WIB.
