Getafe Falls When Mason Greenwood Gets A Red Card

Getafe, who lost Mason Greenwood due to a red card, fell in the match against Rayo Vallecano in La Liga Spain. In fact, Greenwood has been targeted by Atletico Madrid and Barcelona.

Greenwood's poor record is a player who Getafe borrowed from Manchester United. Not for what reason. He has been the target of Atletico Madrid and Barcelona.

Greenwood only hopes that this bad incident will not affect his chances of returning to life with one of La Liga's elite teams.

When joining Atletico or Barca, this is unexpected after Greenwood's career faded in England. Especially due to cases of harassment and abuse against a woman.

Despite escaping the sentence, Greenwood has become a public entity in England. Even MU immediately received criticism when he was about to enter into the squad. In the aftermath, the Red Devils were forced to lend him to a club outside England.

The former England international also anchored in Spain by strengthening Getafe. His appearance immediately stole the attention so that Barca and Atletico have already been in demand.

However, Greenwood left a bad record after being carded red in the match against Vallecano at the Civitas Metropolitano Stadium, Tuesday, January 2, 2024 evening WIB. Appearing as the host, Getafe lost 2-0.

Before Greenwood's expulsion, Getafe had played with 10 people because Juanmi Latasa got two yellow cards followed by a red card.

Even the hosts ended up playing with only nine players since the 70th minute following Damian Suarez's expulsion for provocation of the referee.

In that match, Vallecano won through two goals from Sergio Camello. The result made Getafe stuck in eighth place with 26. Meanwhile, Vallecano, who has 23 points, occupies 11.

With the expulsion of three players, Getafe set a record nine players who have received red cards this season. Greenwood himself was kicked out after cursing the referee with inappropriate words.

In his report which was later quoted by Mundo Deportivo, referee Jorge Figueroa Vazquez said, "In the 50th minute, Getafe player Mason Greenwood was expelled for the following reasons: protested me and raised my hand and then said, 'f*** you!' When he was expelled, he showed middle finger for disapproval of the decision."

But Getafe coach Jose Bordalas defended his players. Greenwood's team-mate also denied the 22-year-old cursed the referee

"He still can't speak Spanish well. He told me he said something different, not what he meant," said Bordalas.

"He was frustrated that the referee didn't blow the whistle when there was a foul on him. But he never provoked anyone," he said again.

The poor result broke Getafe's brilliant record that was unbeaten during the previous four matches in various competitions. Including a 3-3 draw against Atletico.
